What is Faith Connections?
Faith Connections is an hour on Sunday Mornings (9:45 am - 10:45 am) to make connections with your brothers and sisters in Christ at Reformation Lutheran Church.
Faith Connections is about:
- Re-charging our faith and our connections with one another
- Welcoming newcomers and inviting them into conversation
- Discovering with our friends in Christ how God is at work in our lives.
Faith Connections Kicks Off for All Ages on September 11, 2016
We are excited to begin Faith Connections again after a summer of worship and rest! Faith Connections is our Sunday morning learning hour, from 9:45-10:45 a.m. Stay after the 8:30 a.m. worship service, or come before the 11:00 a.m. service, for Christian growth and learning. The mission of Faith Connections is: Building and sustaining our faith community one relationship at a time.
We will offer coffee and treats every week at 9:45 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Visit with your church family, welcome visitors, and enjoy catching up with each other. You may take your coffee and snacks to one of the groups that gathers during Faith Connections for faith conversations and Bible Study. We encourage consistent attendance at Faith Connections for all ages, but if your schedule doesn’t allow that, all of the groups are open to you to attend whenever you are able. There will always be a seat for you!
We are making a couple of changes to our Faith Connections format this year. First, the groups will begin at 9:45 a.m. in their assigned rooms and meet for the entire hour.
Second, we are inviting the older youth (6th-12th grade) to join the adults in a new group that will explore how we each connect to God in our own way, or through our own path. Pastor Paige will lead discussions about “Discovering Your Soul’s Path to God.” We will learn how our faith plays a role in every day life, and how we can grow closer to God by discovering our soul’s pathway to him. For example, do you feel God’s presence most when you are outdoors? When you are singing in worship? When you serve others? When you study the Bible in solitude? Exploring this together will help deepen our faith and develop relationships within this group for youth and adults during Faith Connections. During the year, the Youth may also have some of their own activities and service projects during the Faith Connections hour.
There are also Faith Connections groups for Pre-K through 5th grade led by Jeanne Coherd, and a second group for adults, led by Chris Antonik and Pastor Eric. This adult group will be similar to the one that has met in the Fellowship Hall for the past several years. Starting this fall, the adult Bible Study will meet in the Narthex to allow those who wish to have coffee and informal conversations to talk in the Fellowship Hall during the Faith Connections hour.
One more important item: on the Sundays that we have ReCreation events at 12:15 p.m., Faith Connections will not meet. There will always be coffee and refreshments for members and visitors to enjoy between the worship services, but the groups will not meet. Everyone is encouraged to attend worship and the ReCreation lunch and learning event on ReCreation days (please see the schedule of the 2016-2017 ReCreation events in this issue of the Reporter.) Since ReCreation is designed for the whole congregation, all ages, to come and learn together, we focus on worship and ReCreation on those Sundays.
Faith Connections Groups held from 9:45-10:45 a.m. starting Sept. 11, 2016:
Infants-early Preschoolers: Play with Ms. Kristen in the Nursery
Pre-K through 5th Grade: Faith Connections Kids with Ms. Jeanne in the Double Classroom
6th Grade-Adults: Discover Your Soul’s Path to God with Pastor Paige in the Classroom across from the Nursery
Adults: Bible Study with Chris Antonik and Pastor Eric.
Everyone: Coffee, refreshments, and conversation in the Fellowship Hall.
Faith Connections happens between worship services throughout the school year. Anyone is always welcome to join us any time!
