On Super Bowl Sunday, we collected canned soup for the Milford Community Food Pantry for “Souper Bowl Sunday." Pastor Paige takes the idea of Super Bowl commercials and points out how the best commercials move us from an expectation about what is about to happen, to a different reality of what actually does happen. That’s the dynamic Jesus found himself facing in Luke 4:21-30 when he preached in his hometown of Nazareth. It didn’t end well, but Jesus escaped to take the message of God’s Kingdom to others. Through the Gospel story, we learn our mission as followers of Jesus. And through today’s reading from 1 Corinthians 13:1-13, we find out how we are powered by God’s love as we live out that mission in our daily lives.
