One Truth, Three Big Deals (May 27th, 2018)

The doctrine of the Trinity is the central mystery of the Christian faith. But as much as it seems like the idea of one God existing forever as three divine Persons is just philosophical gymnastics, it’s really about the question of how our broken world, and our broken lives, can be made right again. Spring Cleaning: Revealing the Obvious (May 13th, 2018)

In today’s reading of 1John 5:9-13, it sounds like John is saying the obvious: “I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so you may know that you have eternal life.” Wouldn’t you assume that people who believe in Jesus know they have eternal life? That’s a clue to what’s really going on in this passage: Jesus wants to do some “spring cleaning” in our souls, to change what we desire and ask for.
