We often want God to change the world around us. But what Jesus is most often up to is changing the world within us. Jesus does want to transform the world, but his method is to send out transformed people to demonstrate what is grace can do. In this sermon from Acts 1:6-14, Pastor Eric challenges us to let Jesus do his saving work in us, so that he can then bring redeeming power to the world through us.

This is a recording of our 8:30 service. After the service, we invite you to fill out an online response card here. Also, if you are able, we invite you to partner with us by financially supporting Reformation here. Your generosity allows us to bring the hope of Jesus to Milford and beyond. Thank you!

As Jesus says farewell to his disciples in John 14:15-21, before his crucifixion and resurrection, he gives them the promise of “another Advocate” to come. In this sermon, Pastor Paige explores what that means, and how the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, enlivens us today both as individual followers of Jesus and as the church, together.

Jesus says, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life." These words can be a scandal and an offense in our day and age because they might seem exclusive. In this sermon from John 14:1-14, Pastor Eric challenges those notions and encourages us to find confidence, not in our ideas about Jesus, but in Jesus' own words about himself.

The Gospel of John is filled with wonderful promises from Jesus, such as “I am the light of the world,” “I am the bread of life,” and “I am the good shepherd.” In today’s reading from John 10:1-10, Jesus says, “I am the gate for the sheep.” This lesser-known promise teaches us a lot about ourselves and our Lord. In this sermon, Pastor Paige explores how Jesus as the gate for the sheep is good news. She invites listeners to remember their baptism as the entrance to a relationship with Jesus and into the abundant life he offers. This sermon also reminds worshipers how Holy Communion strengthens their faith and allows them to leave the flock after worship, taking the good news of Jesus’ love with them into their daily lives in the world.

Christ is Risen! We hope this service will help you continue to celebrate the joy of Easter, a season that lasts 7 weeks. You can use the buttons above to download a bulletin to help you follow along with the service and go to our YouTube channel for online worship. Our daily devotional guide will return next week.

What story are you living in? We've all got stories. The nostalgia story. The "gotta make more money" story. The "I'm not good enough" story. Our stories define our reality. And what can be dangerous is when our stories don't match reality. In our reading from Luke 24:13-35, two disciples of Jesus are stuck in a story that ends with Christ's death. Even when they get new information, they are still in an old story. But what happens when the Author steps in? Pastor Eric shows how a new story is given, in the breaking of bread.

Christ is Risen! We hope that this worship service will help you experience the joy and victory of Christ’s resurrection. You can use the buttons above to download a bulletin to help you follow along with the service and go to our YouTube channel for online worship. If you haven’t yet participated in our online Maundy Thursday or Good Friday services, they are available on YouTube and will prepare you to more fully celebrate Easter’s promise. Our daily devotional guide is taking a 2-week “vacation.”

Christ is Risen! The Easter story from Matthew 28:1-10 emphasizes how zealously Jesus’ opponents tried to keep his body sealed away in the tomb. But nothing could stop God’s power to raise his Son up from death to life. In this sermon, Pastor Paige invites listeners to consider times when they’ve felt like their hopes and dreams were blocked by obstacles too big to be overcome. She then shares the good news that because God raised Jesus to new life and allowed him to burst out of the tomb, there is nothing God cannot do. We have received the gift of the forgiveness of sins and eternal life thanks to Jesus’ death and resurrection. Now nothing can come between us and the hopeful future God has planned for us. That’s the great news we have to share with one another and the world. Christ is Risen, indeed! Alleluia!

April 6 & 7, Maundy Thursday and Good Friday

Thursday night’s service will be live streamed at 7:30pm. The name “Maundy Thursday” comes from the Latin mandatum, for “command,” as we remember Jesus’ command to his disciples in the Upper Room that they love one another as he has loved them. In this service we also commemorate the institution of Holy Communion, offer individual laying on of hands for forgiveness, and have a symbolic foot washing ceremony. You are encouraged to watch through to the end of this service, as it concludes with the stripping of the altar, symbolic of Christ’s humiliation during his arrest and trial.

Good Friday’s service, also live streamed at 7:30pm, includes brief reflections on the “Seven Last Words” of Jesus from the cross, preached by a number of different pastors.

The recordings of the live streams for both services will remain available on YouTube, but will not be re-posted on Facebook or this web page.

After the service, we invite you to fill out an online response card here. Also, if you are able, we invite you to partner with us by financially supporting Reformation here. Your generosity allows us to bring the hope of Jesus to Milford and beyond. Thank you!

Palm Sunday (also "the Sunday of the Passion") carries bad news about us and good news for us. The chilling words of the crowds calling for Christ's crucifixion, "His blood be on us and on our children," carry depths of meaning. In this sermon on the Passion (or "suffering") of Christ, Pastor Eric invites us to contemplate the deep mystery of Christ's sacrifice for us.

This is a challenging passage. John 11:1-45 tells the amazing story of Lazarus being raised from the dead, an incredibly hopeful account of Jesus' power to raise the dead. But there is a difficult side to it as well. Jesus did not respond immediately when he heard that Lazarus was ill, and so before Jesus came, Lazarus had died. "If you had been here," Lazarus' sisters say, "my brother would not have died." But what if the role of Jesus isn't to keep his people protected from feeling hurt or pain? What if, in fact, he can lead us through the worst we could ever face and give us the gift of new life on the other side? This sermon from Pastor Eric invites you to let Jesus lead you, even into places we might not want to go.

As we continue our journey through the season of Lent, we come to a rich story from John 9:1-41 about Jesus healing a man who was born blind. Even though this is an amazing miracle, it was not well received by the man’s community or by the religious leaders. Instead of celebrating the healed man’s new gift of sight, those around him interrogate him and demand to know how Jesus did it. In this sermon, Pastor Paige contrasts the man’s miraculous gift of sight with the blindness of those who refuse to see God’s healing power at work through his Son. She asks listeners to consider how God has healed them in the past, or how they are currently waiting for God to act. By hearing this gospel story in a worship service, surrounded by other believers, we are strengthened in our faith and able to more fully trust that we will experience the healing power of God in our lives, in God’s own time.

We get to overhear a long conversation between Jesus and the woman at the well today. At first, she thinks they’re talking about the mundane chore of drawing water. But as the reading from John 4:5-42 continues, we hear how Jesus opens up the woman’s eyes and heart to the living water and the new future he offers her and everyone he invites to follow him. Pastor Paige explores this rich story in today’s sermon. She asks worshipers to pause in the middle of Lent, consider what their souls are thirsty for, and turn to Jesus to find the true satisfaction, abundant life, and eternal life he alone can give.

In John 3:1-17, Jesus teaches about being "born again" or "born from above." We often get caught up in wondering what being "born again" means, but we lose sight of the fact that after we are born, the point is to grow up! In this sermon, Pastor Eric uses the story of a failed railway project in Spain to call us to consider the ways we might be resisting the new life Jesus wants to give us. It is a challenging call, but it is also the summons into the life God desires to give us.

Why are we here? Genesis 2:15 gives us an answer: we are meant to be gardeners. Now, that's a metaphor. Gardeners take the world around them and work to make it more productive or beautiful. We were created to help the creation around us -including other people!- thrive and grow in glory. But our sin has disconnected us from this high and holy calling. In Matthew 4:1-11, we hear the story of how Jesus overcomes temptation to restore us to our deepest meaning. Pastor Eric helps us see that through a pilgrimage in the desert, we can rediscover the purpose of the Garden.

When we’re used to rushing around and always looking ahead to the next event on our calendars, it can be challenging to pause and soak up the good things that are happening in our lives. In worship today, we are celebrating the Transfiguration of Our Lord. This was the moment on a mountaintop when Jesus suddenly started shining like the sun. God spoke from a cloud, surprising the disciples who witnessed it so much that they fell down in fear. In this sermon on the story of Jesus’ Transfiguration from Matthew 17:1-9, Pastor Paige encourages listeners to pause, celebrate, and truly take in Jesus’ glory. By letting Jesus’ light shine on us, we receive fuel for the journey of Lent which is about to begin.
