Jesus gave up his life for us. Are we fully giving ourselves to his mission in response? That’s the question posed by the vivid story from Mark 12:38-44 about Jesus teaching in the temple courts. In this sermon, Pastor Paige describes about how the widow who gave two small coins helps us examine our own discipleship and increase our commitment to walking in the way of Jesus.

On All Saints' Sunday, we remember those who have died in Christ and we explore what it means for us to be called saints of God. On this Commitment Sunday, we make estimates of giving for 2025. What links these two is the faith created by the promise that because of the cross of Christ, death doesn't win, and the mission Jesus has for us to share that Good News. Listen, and be encouraged and challenged!

It’s an exciting Sunday at Reformation! Three young people are affirming their baptism with the Rite of Confirmation, it’s the second week of our generosity series, and it’s Reformation Sunday! In this sermon, Pastor Paige explores what it means to dwell in Jesus, as we hear in the gospel reading from John 8:31-36, and to make Christ our home. We hope you’ll join us in celebrating Confirmation Sunday, Reformation Sunday, and more through this online worship. We encourage you to take the opportunity to grow in your God-centered life as part of our community of faith. We’re glad you’re here!

Did you ever wonder if you were "made for more than this?" Do you worry if your life matters? In this sermon from Mark 10:35-45, Pastor Eric helps us to see where our true worth comes from, and how to discover the true greatness God has created us all for. As we begin our annual stewardship campaign with the theme, "The God-Centered Life," we are called to follow the pattern of Jesus, who gave his life for our salvation.

Today’s passage is memorable because Jesus says it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a wealthy person to enter the kingdom of God. Why does Jesus say this? Who does he say it to? How can this seemingly impossible claim make a difference in how we live as Jesus’ disciples? These are some of the questions Pastor Paige addresses in today’s sermon on Mark 10:17-31. Jesus says that in the kingdom of God, “the last shall be first and the first shall be last.” Even as we wrestle with the ways Jesus turns the wisdom of the world upside down, these words guide us as his disciples. They help us truly see others, and love and serve others, with Jesus’ selfless and generous love.

Mark 10:2-16 has, sadly, been used to shame and exclude people whose marriages have failed. But when we look deeply at Jesus' teaching, we will find a new vision not just for marriage, but for all forms of community. God's intention for our relationships is far greater than what our culture has taught us!

"Submit" is not a word that sits well with most of us. But the truth is, there is no life that doesn't involve some form of surrender. In this sermon based on James 3:13-4:3, 7-8a and Mark 9:30-37, Pastor Eric explores how even people who spent the most time with Jesus could still end up stuck in self-centered thinking. The problem comes when we don't grasp the power of Jesus' death and resurrection for us. This brings us to a leap of faith: we can either submit to the Lord who loves us enough to give his life for us, or end up surrendering to the worst parts of ourselves.

Sometimes a hero doesn’t look like a hero. In today’s sermon on Mark 8:27-34, Pastor Paige dives into the conversation between Jesus and his disciples, and Jesus’ question, “Who do you say that I am?” When he answers, Peter correctly calls Jesus, “the Messiah," but he doesn’t understand what that means. When Jesus explains what is to come with his life, death, and resurrection, Peter’s eyes are opened to a whole new way of understanding his Messiah and his Lord. It’s important for us to truly understand who Jesus is, as well. How we answer his question, “Who do you say that I am?” makes a big difference for our faith, for how we live, and for how we follow Jesus as his disciples.

In Mark 7:24-37, we encounter Jesus seeming to treat a woman seeking help in a rude, even dehumanizing way. And then he uses spit to heal a deaf man. In this sermon, Pastor Eric helps us to avoid the temptation to “explain” the strangeness, and instead let it lead us into a curious, humble posture, where we can hear, from Jesus, a “no” that might sting at first, be leads, ultimately, to his great “YES” for you.

Listening to God’s word, hearing the message of God’s grace, acting on it, and speaking about it: all of these are essential for how we live out our faith. In this sermon, Pastor Paige unpacks the instructions we hear in the book of James (James 1:17-27), to “be doers of the word and not merely hearers.” She also points to Jesus’ conflict with the religious leaders over human traditions to illustrate how grounding our lives in God’s word makes a real difference for how we serve those around us (Mark 7:1-8, 14-15, 21-23).

What is the purpose of life? Our world tends to think it's some variation of "be happy." But is that really enough? Why do we come together as a church? When you come to worship, online or on site, what are you hoping for? In today’s sermon based on Ephesians 4:25-5:2 and John 6:35, 41-51, Pastor Eric invites us to think about gathering for God, for ourselves, for each other, and for the world. When we’re on the go, it’s easy to reach for snacks without stopping to think about whether or not that food will actually be good for our bodies or satisfy our hunger. That’s the situation the crowd from today’s reading (John 6:24-35) was in. After Jesus fed the 5,000 with five loaves of bread and two fish, the crowd chased after Jesus to get more of that food. But Jesus knew that their true hunger required something better: himself. In this sermon, Pastor Paige asks listeners what they are hungering and thirsting for in their hearts. Jesus, the bread of life, wants to give us so much more than groceries. This sermon prompts us to ask ourselves if we will listen carefully to Jesus’ promises and take in the food that he offers: his presence and love that endure for eternal life.

The stories of Mark 6:1-13 and 2 Corinthians 12:2-10 don’t seem to connect very much. But in the dynamics of the life of faith, they describe the journey out (for the sake of our neighbors) and the journey down (from our own sense of strength into a humble trust in Jesus). In this sermon, Pastor Eric will introduce an image that will probably be coming up a lot in the coming months as he asks, “are we settlers, or are we pioneers?” Listen and be encouraged and challenged!

Today’s two healing stories from Mark 5:21-43 strengthen our faith as we hear about Jesus’ compassion and his power to make people well. In this sermon, Pastor Paige points out how the trust and faith of the ones who approach Jesus make a big difference in how the healings unfold. Noticing Jesus’ tone of voice and his posture of loving curiosity allows this story to reinforce our faith and guide us on our path of healing as well.
