Growing Up: The Stormy Path (June 24th, 2018)

Ever hear of “helicopter parents?” It’s the name given to parents who hover so closely over their kids that they smother them, trying to make sure that everything always goes just right for them. But how do kids learn how to handle adversity if they never have to face it? Unfortunately, many Christians expect God to be a helicopter parent, and it stunts our spiritual maturity. Listen as Pastor Eric challenges and encourages us to find Christ’s power at work in the challenges and storms of life, preaching from 2 Corinthians 6:1-13 and Mark 4:35-41.

Growing Up: Playing the Right Game (June 17th, 2018)

Part of growing up means leaving childish games behind. But we’re all playing games, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. We’ve got goals, things we’re aiming for. The real question is, are we playing the right games, or the wrong ones? Are we trying to score the right goals, or are we wasting our life on games we should have left behind a long time ago? In this sermon, based on 2 Corinthians 5:6-17, Pastor Eric explores how we can aim for the right goals.

Don’t Just Do Something, Sit There! (June 3rd, 2018)

Jesus jumps into controversy over what it means to keep the Sabbath holy in today’s lesson from Mark 2:23-3:6. Pastor Paige asks listeners to take their own Sabbath temperature. She explains how the commandment to observe Sabbath rest is a gift from God. Jesus’ teaching about keeping the Sabbath holy prepares us to be intentional about our rhythms of Sabbath rest and time with God. When we observe the Sabbath, God’s love overflows from our hearts, to our words and actions, to the lives of those around us.

One Truth, Three Big Deals (May 27th, 2018)

The doctrine of the Trinity is the central mystery of the Christian faith. But as much as it seems like the idea of one God existing forever as three divine Persons is just philosophical gymnastics, it’s really about the question of how our broken world, and our broken lives, can be made right again. Isaiah 6:1-8 and Romans 8:12-17 provide the biblical background for the three big deals coming out of the one truth of the Trinity.
