As we continue our Lenten series of dramatic encounters in John’s Gospel, today we come to the raising of Lazarus from the dead. And yet, Jesus said that Lazarus’ illness would not lead to death in the first place. Did Jesus lie? Or is this a sign that perhaps Jesus has an agenda different than our own, and maybe even different than what we think God’s agenda might be?
