In today’s reading from 2 Kings 5:1-15, we meet Namaan, a commander of a foreign army and a reluctant recipient of a miracle of healing. In this story, it’s not only Namaan’s health that improves, but also his attitude toward God. He goes from being insulted that God’s prophet tells him to do a simple thing in order to be healed to wanting to give that same prophet a gift when he is made whole. In this sermon, Pastor Paige asks listeners to reflect on the gift of salvation they’ve received from God. She invites them to “rekindle the gift” of faith in Jesus and all that he has done for them, during our current stewardship season, and always.
